2007 UA IBM Day
Friday, October 26, 2007 : 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
McClelland Hall : The University of Arizona
IBM and The University of Arizona held a one-day conference that brought students, faculty, and corporate professionals together to explore one of the most challenging information topics of our age: Information Lifecycle Management.
Information Lifecycle Management
Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) refers to a wide-ranging set of strategies for administering storage systems on computing devices.
ILM comprises the policies, processes, practices, and tools used to align the business value of information with the most appropriate and cost- effective IT infrastructure from the time information is conceived through its final disposition. Information is aligned with business processes through management policies and service levels associated with applications, metadata, information, and data.
IBM and Engineering, Management, and Science
For this event, IBM joined forces with three colleges at The University of Arizona — College of Engineering, Eller College of Management, and College of Science. Top researchers from the departments of Computer Science, Management Information Systems, and Electrical and Computer Engineering provided theoretical grounding while IBM employees and customers discuss how theory affects practice. The conference provided a unique opportunity for participants to collaborate and discuss the impact of ILM in their specific area of research expertise and business need.
Throughout the day participants experienced exciting, cutting-edge presentations from faculty, students, IBM managers, and IBM customers — allowing participants to understand the entire scope of ILM issues, from research to customer implementation.
